Having significant interest in the Argentine market, UBITECH is participating in the ELAN Network Argentina 2017 event, organized by the European & Latin American Technology Based Business Network (ELAN Network) in Buenos Aires, Argentina on June 27-28, 2017. This business networking event allows UBITECH to find new local and international partners and create strong networks and lasting relationships, generating new technology-based opportunities and consolidating existing ones with European and Argentine companies, as well as strategic alliances with a multiplier effect. The event will focus on the sectors of Renewable Energies, Industry 4.0 and ICT, which have great growth potential in Argentina, taking into account the potential to generate business and successful interactions between Argentine and European players.
UBITECH participates at the kick off meeting of the 5GTANGO 5G-PPP research project (co-funded by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 – the Framework Programme for Research and Innovation 2014-2020, with Grant Agreement H2020-761493), which takes place on June 21-22, 2017 at Barcelona, Spain. UBITECH teams up with a consortium of seventeen organizations across Europe, bringing together large industries, telecom companies, vendors, research institutes, universities and verticals, including ATOS, NEC, NOKIA, Altice Labs, Telefonica and Huawei, to put forth the flexible programmability of 5G networks so as to reduce time to market for networked services by shortening service development cycle and by qualifying network services to be adopted, to reduce entry barrier to third party developers and to support the creation and composition of Virtual Network Functions (VNFs) and application elements as “network services”.

As part of a team of five organizations with strong background and interest in 5G research and experimentation, UBITECH supports the launch of the athens.5Glink initiative with the aim to enable, in an integrated large-scale end-to-end testbed, the experimentation on 5G and future network technologies. Athens5Glink will be openly accessible to the 5G community for real-life demonstration, validation and assessment of cutting-edge technologies.
A scientific paper entitled “Data Aggregation, Fusion and Recommendations for Strengthening Citizens Energy-aware Behavioural Profiles” has been co-authored by UBITECH and published at the Global IoT Summit 2017 and specifically at the Workshop on Energy Efficient Solutions based on IoT – EESIoT 2017 that is going to be held in Geneva at June 8, 2017. In this paper, ENTROPY platform, an IT ecosystem for supporting energy efficiency in buildings through behavioural change of the occupants is provided. The ENTROPY platform targets at providing a set of mechanisms for accelerating the adoption of energy efficient practices through the increase of the energy awareness and energy saving potential of the occupants. The platform takes advantage of novel sensor networking technologies for supporting efficient sensor data aggregation mechanisms, semantic web technologies for unified data representation, machine learning mechanisms for getting insights from the available data and recommendation mechanisms for providing personalised content to end users. These technologies are combined and provided through an integrated platform, targeting at leading to occupants’ behavioural change with regards to their energy consumption profiles.

The ARCADIA consortium successfully demonstrated the results of the work of the project during the first two years during the second project review on 31st of March at the European Commission in Brussels. These results included the release (by UBITECH) of the final integrated version of the ARCADIA Smart Controller that supports the dynamic setup and management of a set of distributed applications over multi-site programmable infrastructure. A set of intelligent orchestration mechanisms including the production of optimal deployment plans, the real-time policies enforcement and the support of set of virtual functions (e.g. load balancer, overlay routing) were successfully demonstrated.
