DISYS: Intelligent System for Personalized Nutritional Recommendations

UBITECH organised and hosted the Athens kick-off meeting of the DISYS research project, officially started on March 1st, 2014. The project is partially funded by the National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF) (Grant Agreement No 1621-BET-2013) and runs in the period March 2014 – July 2015.

DISYS project aims to study, design and develop an intelligent system for personalized dietary recommendations, which will take into account the nutritional profile of the consumer and selected health indicators (e.g., blood sugar levels, blood pressure, etc.) and will propose “healthy” meals to the consumer which can be consumed in a restaurant.

UBITECH participates in the design, technical specification and implementation of the Nutritional Profile Layer, integrating the business logic required so that the consumer can introduce self – reported personal data such as eating habits and basic medical information (e.g. allergies or conditions like diabetes), which are mapped to the DISYS Semantic Model. UBITECH participates in the implementation of the nutritional profile of the consumer, based on which the dietary recommendations will rely. The Nutritional Profile Layer also integrates the business logic required amongst others for the nutritional analysis of dietary menus and the mapping of this information to the DISYS Semantic Model. For more information, please visit the project’s website or contact us.

RENAPER Data Exchange Platform implemented by UBITECH allows the secure interchange of Civil Status Certificates among the Provinces of the Republic of Argentina

The Secure Data Exchange Platform implemented by UBITECH for the “Registro Nacional de las Personas” (RENAPER) of the Ministry of Interior and Transport of the Republic of Argentina has been tested and piloted in four provinces of the Argentinian Republic, namely Neuquen, Tucumán, Corrientes and Formosa, during March and April 2014. The successfully executed test cases included the exchange of digitally signed birth, marriage and death certificates, allowing the functional evaluation and acceptance testing of the electronic platform and the familiarization of the provincial public servants with the platform’s digital formats, services and functionality.

Going a step further, the Province of Neuquen, due to the advanced stage of digitization of its civil status records and the sophisticated provincial interconnection plan, has achieved to utilize the electronic platform for exchanging digitally signed certificates between the province and other provincial or federal legal entities requesting civil status documents from citizens.

PaaSport: New EC co-funded research project on Cloud PaaS markets

UBITECH has participated in the Athens kick-off meeting of the PaaSport research project, officially started on December 1st, 2013. The project is partially funded by European Commission under FP7 Research for SME Associations programme (Grant Agreement No 605193) and runs in the period December 2013-November 2016.

The PaaSport project, fostering the creation of a “semantically-enhanced marketplace of interoperable platform-as-a-service offerings for the deployment and migration of business applications of SMEs”, focuses on resolving the data and application portability issues that exist in the Cloud PaaS market through a flexible and efficient deployment and migration approach.

UBITECH has introduced in PaaSport the concept of “Semantically Interoperable PaaS Solutions”, as Cloud PaaS systems and offerings with the ability to overcome the semantic incompatibilities and communicate, referring to the ability of applications and their data to seamlessly be deployed on and/or migrated between Cloud PaaS offerings that are using the same technological background but different data (information) models and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). Moreover, the role of UBITECH in PaaSport aims at the implementation of a set of CAMP-compatible adapters for PaaS platforms that handles mainly the deployment, undeployment, start, stop and migration of an application on a selected PaaS offering. Finally, UBITECH will utilize the corporate Cloud infrastructure, comprised of an openstack and a cloudfoundry deployment, for the support and execution of value-added demonstrators and scenarios proving the business benefits of the PaaSport concepts and tools.
