LinDA: New EC co-funded research project on Linked Data management and analytics

UBITECH has participated in the kick-off meeting that took place in Athens of the LinDA research project officially started on December 1st, 2013. The project is partially funded by European Commission under FP7-ICT research programme (Grant Agreement No 610565) and runs in the period December 2013-November 2015.

The LinDA project, entitled “Enabling Linked Data and Analytics for SMEs by renovating public sector information”, addresses one of the most significant challenges of the usage and publication of Linked Data, the renovation and conversion of existing data formats into structures that support the semantic enrichment and interlinking of data. The set of tools provided by LinDA will assist enterprises, especially SMEs which often cannot afford the development and maintenance of dedicated information analysis and management departments, in efficiently developing novel data analytical services that are linked to the available public data and enterprise data.

The role of UBITECH in LinDA aims at the implementation of libraries and applications for end-user – driven Linked Data Analytics and Data Mining, based on existing Java-based components (like Weka and Java ML) extended to point to RDF as source format, specifically targeted to leverage the potential of Linked Data sources, especially in terms of pattern and link analysis. Moreover, UBITECH will support the end-user SMEs for the adoption and deployment of the LinDA solutions as well as the enrichment of the LinDA visualisation applications library for the business intelligence & management consultants market, the environmental sector and the media industry.
