UBITECH Distinguished at ETSI SNS4SNS 2026 with Best Demo Award

UBITECH participated in the ETSI SNS4SNS 2026 event, held from February 2–5, 2026, at the ETSI Headquarters in Sophia Antipolis, France, reinforcing its active role in European research, open-source ecosystems, and technical standardization.

Representing UBITECH were Georgios P. Katsikas, Nikos Psaromanolakis, and Apostolos Prassas, who delivered multiple talks, tutorials, and demonstrations across key ETSI tracks, contributing to the advancement of interoperable, next-generation network infrastructures.

As part of the tutorial on OpenSlice advanced features, Georgios P. Katsikas highlighted the importance of orchestrator peering through standardized APIs to enable federated digital marketplaces.

The session concluded with a live demonstration of the OpenSlice peering mechanism, leveraging the COP-PILOT platform and showcasing 8 ETSI OpenSlice instances across Europe interconnected via HypO (formerly Maestro) — now introduced as a new ETSI Module Development Group under ETSI OSL.

The demo illustrated the creation of a Pan-European Marketplace, enabling standardized service exchange across vertical sectors including mining, smart cities, smart agriculture, and energy grids.

In the session “ETSI SDGs in Action”, UBITECH presented a hierarchical orchestration framework integrating HypO, OpenSlice, TeraFlowSDN, and Open-Source MANO.

The platform demonstrated:

  • Secure onboarding of private edge domains
  • Fully automated provisioning of compute, 5G network, and services
  • On-demand security and proactive SLA preservation through closed-loop automation

This work builds on the ETSI ZSM PoC framework, advancing automation for modern infrastructure and service providers.

A dedicated session showcased the co-existence of legacy and P4-offloaded 5G UPF deployments using programmable networking hardware and open-source platforms.

The demonstration validated high-performance 5G user-plane offloading in real deployments, supporting ultra-low latency services and advanced telecom use cases.

Best Demo Award – P2CODE

A major highlight of the event was the Best Demo Award, presented by: Nikos Psaromanolakis (UBITECH) and Georgios Angelopoulos (iLINK) for the P2CODE demo: “Smart just-in-time logistics atop an end-to-end orchestrated compute, network, and data continuum.”

The award-winning demo showcased a standards-based orchestration framework integrating HypO, OpenSlice, TeraFlowSDN, and Open-Source MANO into a unified architecture enabling secure, zero-touch service provisioning across multi-domain edge, 5G, IoT, and cloud infrastructures.

Applied to smart warehouse logistics, the solution demonstrated how federated telemetry, automated orchestration, and lifecycle management can streamline industrial operations across the compute–network–data continuum.

UBITECH has already submitted ACROSS and P2CODE for consideration at the ETSI Research and Innovation Awards, recognizing projects with significant contributions to ETSI standardization initiatives.

Through sustained participation in ETSI Software Development Groups and large-scale European research programs, UBITECH strengthens the link between research, open-source development, standardization, and real-world deployment — helping shape secure, scalable, and interoperable infrastructures for next-generation networks and cloud orchestration platforms.
