UBITECH proudly announces its participation in the newly launched CLIMINVEST research project, titled “Bankable by Design, Continuous, and Predictive Climate Adaptation Investments with Co-Benefits”. The project officially kicked off with its inaugural meeting held from 21st to 23rd May at Milan, hosted by GFT, bringing together a strong consortium of partners to pioneer the next generation of climate adaptation investment frameworks. Funded under the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme (Grant Agreement 101212947), CLIMINVEST seeks to transform climate adaptation investments into continuous, predictive, and replicable solutions that deliver measurable co-benefits for both communities and ecosystems. By designing bankable-by-design methodologies, the project aims to unlock private capital and accelerate the large-scale adoption of climate resilience measures.
UBITECH, through its Energy Digitalisation (EDG) Research Group (https://ubitech.eu/edg/), led by Dr. Magda Foti, Head of Group, plays a central role in shaping the project’s technical and methodological backbone. Specifically, UBITECH leads three major workstreams:
- Infrastructure Designs Modification and Local Practices Integration – Developing adaptive infrastructure methods that align technical requirements with local environmental conditions, while incorporating indigenous knowledge and community practices for long-term sustainability.
- Guides and Best Practices Development – Producing practical, step-by-step resources for replicating bankable climate adaptation projects across diverse regions, designed for use by investors, developers, and community leaders.
- Replication and Repurposing Workflows – Designing standardized yet flexible workflows to accelerate the replication of successful solutions, reducing implementation costs and facilitating scalability.
“Our work in CLIMINVEST directly supports the global push to make climate adaptation projects not only technically sound but also financially viable and community-driven,” said Dr. Foti. “By integrating local practices and producing structured guides and workflows, UBITECH contributes to a holistic approach that ensures resilience solutions can be scaled across Europe and beyond.”
The CLIMINVEST consortium brings together leading academic institutions, research organizations, SMEs, and public authorities across Europe, all committed to delivering innovative pathways for climate finance and adaptation strategies. Over the course of the project, the partners will collaborate to test, validate, and replicate solutions through real-world pilots. UBITECH reaffirms its commitment to advancing climate-smart digitalisation, infrastructure design, and investment readiness, empowering stakeholders to deliver sustainable solutions for a rapidly changing climate.
