Working in closed collaboration and under the direct guidelines of Novibet, UBITECH has implemented and launched a software as a service utility realizing the new Novileague Challenge that constitutes a weekly football predictor free-to-play game, available for all Novibet users, and is part of the betting offerings of Novibet. In particular, the game is based on the idea of correct predictions on the outcomes of specific events, providing existing customers the chance to win cash prizes or earn free bets.

UBITECH, as coordinator, and UBITECH Energy, as technical coordinator of FARCROSS EC co-funded Innovation Action, participated in one of Europe’s most relevant smart energy fairs, ENLIT in Frankfurt between 29 November and 1 December. ENLIT is one of the hub events throughout the year for all the players of the energy sector, bringing together 15 000 visitors and more than 700 exhibitors, not only from Europe, but also from Asia, the US and Canada. At the booth of FARCROSS within the EU projects zone of the exhibition, the consortium partners presented to visitors how the project contributes to the enhancement of the cross-border electricity flows in the South-Eastern European region. Therefore, the presence of FARCROSS at the event greatly increased the visibility of the project and thus the impact of its future outcomes.

UBITECH participates in the European Big Data Value Forum (EBDVF) which took place in Prague, Czech Republic on November 21-23, with a central theme of “At the Heart of the Ecosystem for Data and AI”. The European Big Data Value Forum brings together industry professionals, business developers, researchers and policy-makers from all over Europe and other regions of the world to advance policy actions, and industrial and research activities in the areas of Data and AI. The EBDVF 2022 is organised by the Big Data Value Association (BDVA), IT4Innovations (VSB – Technical University of Ostrava), Plan4all and Charles University in Prague in collaboration with the European Commission (DG CNECT). It has been granted with the Czech Republic Presidency Auspice.

UBITECH’s Dimitris Ntalaperas proudly participated in the Open SSI Forum, an open event that brings together technology experts, policymakers, and senior leaders from the public, private and academic sector institutions from across Europe and beyond and is organised by the non-profit think-tank EEMA (https://www.eema.org/). The Open SSI Forum constitutes an unconference with a clear European angle that provides real insights into the current state of the identity world, having the ability to network and discuss the latest ideas and innovations. Dimitris Ntalaperas had the opportunity to present the achievements of the EC funded project GLASS, in a thought-provoking session that involved productive discussions and debates on identity.

With that in mind and following the contractual obligations, UBITECH releases the 2nd version of the Reference Architecture developed the architectures and ICT platforms and tools, as well as emerging technologies for open data storage and access to support IPS co-creation and governance models and enable stakeholders’ collaboration in co-producing inclusive and accessible IPS.

The second review of the STAR project (https://star-ai.eu/), funded under the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Framework of the European Commission (Grant Agreement Nr 956573), was successfully held by the European Commission on the 14th of November 2022, assessing project’s goal towards Safe and Trusted Human Centric Artificial Intelligence in Future Manufacturing Lines. The STAR consortium successfully presented the outcomes, composed of tools aiming to deliver leading-edge AI technologies including explainable AI, active learning systems, simulated reality systems, human-centric digital twins, advanced reinforcement learning techniques and cyber-defense mechanisms.

Another exciting pilot for the EC funded project Search and Rescue (SnR) took place on the 11^th and 12^th of November, this time, in the area of Thessaloniki. More than 70 participants joined for the project’s “plane crash and mountain rescue” use case in the area of mountain Chortiatis, according to which the four passengers of a single engine plane that crashed in an unknown area of Mount Hortiatis were successfully rescued and treated with medical care by the experienced rescue teams of #HRT and other first responders

Dr Thanassis Giannetsos, Head of UBITECH’s Digital Security & Trusted Computing Research Group, has been invited by Huawei Germany to give a talk about the “Roadmap Towards Adoption of Dynamic Trust Assurances for Sustainability in CCAM” at the 2022 Security & Trust Summit organized by the multinational technology corporation Huawei. The 2022 Security & Trust Summit along with the co-located System Security Workshop will be held hybrid on 2 to 4 November 2022. The event aims to bring professors and experts from top universities, research institutions and corporations in Europe together to exchange and discuss the latest research in various security domains. Together, we will explore how we can counter current and future security challenges and apply the best security measures available.
