
UBITECH is thrilled to announce the successful completion of the pioneering EU funded collaborative project 5G-INDUCE, initiated by our Network, Software & System (NSS) Research Group, which also served as the project’s technical manager. Launched in January 2021 and spanning 42 months, this project has been completed and thoroughly reviewed on 23 September 2024, by industry experts, who have commended its significant outcomes, innovative use cases, and groundbreaking work. The 5G-INDUCE project utilized UBITECH’s advanced MAESTRO application orchestrator, interfaced with CNIT’s OSS resource manager, to establish a comprehensive application-driven resource orchestration platform.
This platform has been successfully integrated across three real-world 5G enabled infrastructures: a) FORD Factory (Valencia, Spain) – Deployed by Ericsson; b) BEKO Factory (Milan, Italy) – Deployed by WIND3 and CNIT; and c) PPC (DEH) Research Site (Glyka Nera, Greece) – Deployed by OTE.
A total of eight unique use cases have been developed and deployed through UBITECH’s platform in these industrial-scale 5G infrastructures. These use cases include: 1) Indoor Logistics: Smart and advanced AGV control; 2) Maintenance: AR-assisted and predictive maintenance solutions; 3) Inspection: Advanced AI-assisted real-time video processing; 4) Safety: Human and machine interaction in industrial environments; 5) Network Performance: Advanced connectivity mapping solutions.
This project marks the first complete demonstration of UBITECH’s MAESTRO platform’s capabilities in application deployment and runtime management over real 5G infrastructure environments. The successful deployment of these use cases highlights the innovative potential and practical application of 5G technologies in industrial settings.
