UBITECH ENERGY’s Ilias Zafeiropoulos talks about storage at ENLIT EUROPE 2023

UBITECH ENERGY attended Enlit Europe that was held in Paris from November 28 to 30, representing the Sinnogenes project. Within ENLIT, Sinnogenes participated in a session titled “Large- and Small-scale storage technologies” that discussed P2G, CAES, hydro storage, molten salt storage, batteries, electric vehicles thermal energy storage (including power to heat, heat pumps, hot water tanks, geothermal, and flywheels focusing on both the transmission and the distribution level.

The panel discussion was moderated by Patrick Clerens from European Association for Storage of Energy (EASE) and featured representatives of research projects that work on various storage solutions: a) SINNOGENES represented by Ilias Zafeiropoulos (UBITECH ENERGY); b) AGISTIN represented by Gianluca Lipari (EPRI Europe DAC); c) ZHENIT represented by Francesca di Gruttola (RINA Consulting); e) GR4FITE3 represented by Nora Ganzinelli (RINA Consulting); d) i-STENTORE represented by Nikos Bilidis (EUROPEAN DYNAMICS); and f) FlexCHESS represented by Habib Nasser (RDIUP).

Each representative presented the main focus of each project, as well as the main innovation topics addressed. Moreover, the panel discussion delved into critical topics surrounding energy storage, offering valuable insights into the energy sector’s future possibilities.

SINNOGENES project, for which UBITECH ENERGY carries out the technical coordination, focuses on developing a complete framework of methodologies, tools and technologies (SINNO energy toolkit) that will assist the transition to clean energy by providing innovative energy storage solutions and flexible power generation while ensures the compatibility of systems and the standards of distributed energy storage for participation in flexibility markets.
