UBITECH participates in the recently launched INTACT Innovation Action, a European initiative aimed at advancing secure and efficient IoT-to-Cloud computing. Officially started on October 1, 2024, the INTACT project is funded by the European Commission under Grant Agreement No. 101168438 and will run until September 2027. The kick-off meeting took place on October 7-8, 2024, hosted by Fraunhofer in Berlin, Germany. The INTACT project aims to develop an Integrated Software Toolbox that provides cutting-edge predictive cybersecurity services, optimization, and management for the IoT-to-Cloud continuum. The primary goal is to maximize the security of IoT and Cloud infrastructure while minimizing impacts on computing capacity, energy consumption, and costs—factors critical for the smooth operation of businesses.
The Integrated Toolbox will employ AI automation, Twinning tools, and Threat Intelligence solutions to create virtual dataspaces that simulate real-world infrastructures. This allows for accurate prediction of risks and pre-emptive deployment of mitigation strategies without affecting the actual operation of the systems. Key features include: a) Zero-trust security models spanning hardware, system, and application levels; b) Predictive cybersecurity tools for advanced threat detection and risk management; c) Open standards and APIs ensuring scalability and interoperability, including the use of the Eclipse Connector; and d) AI-driven processes embedded across all Toolbox functionalities.
UBITECH will lead the initial deployment of the project’s Lab-testbed, designed to explore the potential of predictive threat intelligence tools and distributed IoT-to-Cloud processes. Specifically, UBITECH will focus on: 1) Integration of MAESTRO with External Clouds: UBITECH’s MAESTRO platform will be connected with external cloud environments, enabling secure data federation, dynamic data-spaces, and integration of AI-powered processes at different IoT/Edge platforms; 2) Enrichment of DevSecOps and ML/Data-Ops: UBITECH will implement a CI/CD pipeline that automates the integration of project modules, facilitating testing of functional, modular, and inter-modular aspects. This will ensure that usability, scalability, and other technical boundaries are identified and addressed; and 3) Automation Roadmap Design: UBITECH will design a comprehensive roadmap that integrates development, operational, and privacy/security processes. This roadmap will be crucial in automating repetitive tasks, software delivery, component testing, and the continuous refinement of INTACT’s integrated toolbox.
The INTACT toolbox will be validated through TRL7 operational deployments across various high-impact sectors including Telecommunications, Health 4.0, Transportation, Nuclear Infrastructure, and Smart Cities. These validations will ensure that the technology meets the real-world demands of cross-vertical supply chains, contributing to the security and sustainability of critical infrastructure in Europe.
