UBITECH Showcases Advanced Orchestration and Automation Innovations at ETSI SNS4SNS Conference

UBITECH is proud to announce its active participation in the ETSI “Software and Standards for Smart Networks and Services Conference & Hackfests” (SNS4SNS), taking place in Sophia Antipolis from November 12-14, 2024. As a leader in network, software, and systems research, UBITECH is showcasing pioneering solutions in service orchestration, intelligent network management, and automation for next-generation smart infrastructures. Through two live demonstrations and two detailed poster presentations, UBITECH will emphasize its commitment to accelerating the adoption of advanced network services and facilitating seamless integration across heterogeneous, multi-domain environments.

In the first demonstration, UBITECH’s Alexandros Valantasis and George Kartsikas will present an advanced service orchestration stack, positioned at Stand 2, featuring the Maestro end-to-end service orchestrator, developed by UBITECH and integrated with ETSI’s OpenSlice and OpenSourceMANO (OSM). This demonstration highlights a sophisticated orchestration framework for predictive maintenance applications running on 5G-based infrastructures, addressing the challenges of multi-layered, real-time resource management. The solution leverages UBITECH’s innovation in compute and network telemetry, providing unprecedented visibility and control across distributed systems through Grafana dashboards. This technology showcases the synergetic orchestration across multiple domains, illustrating how UBITECH’s platform seamlessly manages diverse resources to support complex industrial applications. The approach aligns with P2CODE’s vision, underscoring the project’s ability to dynamically orchestrate applications across IoT-to-edge-to-cloud ecosystems, reinforcing Europe’s position in the advancement of smart systems and IoT technologies.

In a second demonstration, Vasileios Katopodis will focus on the functionality of OpenSlice as a critical component of the FIDAL experimentation framework. This demonstration illustrates how OpenSlice, as a cross-domain slice manager, enables seamless provisioning and lifecycle management of network slices, working in tandem with the Maestro service orchestrator and ETSI OSM. This end-to-end solution demonstrates UBITECH’s capabilities in orchestrating complex service demands, particularly in multi-domain environments, enhancing flexibility and agility in network slice management and deployment.

Additionally, UBITECH is presenting two technical posters that further explore the intricacies of network orchestration and automation for both packet and optical networks. Alexandros Valantasis will showcase the “Joint End-to-End Service and Resource Orchestration with Built-In Telemetry Services” poster, which emphasizes Maestro’s integration through TMForum APIs with ETSI OpenSlice Layer (OSL) and ETSI OSM. This integration enables an orchestration stack that provisions predictive maintenance applications across geo-distributed testbeds in Greece, utilizing real-time compute and 5G infrastructure telemetry. By highlighting the cooperation between orchestrators and the critical role of telemetry at multiple levels, the poster showcases UBITECH’s role in pioneering cross-domain solutions for the deployment of industrial applications.

In the second poster, “ZSM-Based Automation for Dynamic Configuration and Monitoring of Packet and Optical Network Layers,” Nikos Psaromanolakis introduces an innovative approach to dynamic 6G network orchestration developed within the FLEX-SCALE project. This approach, built on the Zero Touch Network and Service Management (ZSM) framework, employs advanced automation to enable real-time reconfiguration across both packet and optical domains. By integrating ETSI TeraFlow SDN’s open-source control and monitoring components, this solution ensures automatic configuration and real-time surveillance of network entities without human intervention. It also incorporates a newly designed telemetry and analytics system that adapts to the demands of complex network environments, providing operators with flexible metrics and analytics capabilities to meet Service Level Agreement (SLA) requirements.

UBITECH’s contributions at the SNS4SNS conference underscore its technical expertise in building cutting-edge solutions that address the operational complexities of modern network infrastructures. Through collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to open-source principles, UBITECH continues to drive advancements in network orchestration, intelligent edge computing, and 6G technology. This participation demonstrates UBITECH’s role as a key player in shaping the future of smart networks and services in Europe, fostering an environment of knowledge-sharing and technological advancement.
