UBITECH’s Anastasis Tzoumpas co-authors the BRIDGE Working Group Business Model Annual Report 2023-2024

UBITECH is proud to announce that Anastasis Tzoumpas, Project Manager at the Energy Systems Digitalization (ESD) and Secure Systems & Trusted Computing (SST) Research Groups of UBITECH, is a co-author of the 2023-2024 Annual Report of the BRIDGE Working Group Business Model. Anastasis Tzoumpas is leading the activities of the Business Models Working Group Task 2 (Quantification methods for Business Models benefits of services and solutions under various use case scenarios) and the Consumer and Citizen Engagement Working Group’s Smart Tools Sub-Group.

This report presents the initial mapping results of the BRIDGE projects’ collaboration within the Working Group (WG) on Business Models (BM) for the 2023–2024 period. The following conclusions have been derived: The results of the 2022–2023 collaboration showed that most projects use the same tools, particularly the Business Model Canvas (BMC), which is the most popular tool for business model creation in BRIDGE projects. However, limitations of the BMC have been identified and need to be addressed by combining different tools (e.g., the Value Proposition Canvas). Currently, there is a lack of standardized processes for both business modeling and quantification methods, such as cost-benefit analysis (CBA). Additionally, data sets are not being treated as Key Exploitable Results (KERs), and there is a need to valorize data through business modeling. The work performed in 2023–2024 has shown that projects need support from BRIDGE in their business model approach at different stages of their activities, a gap that is currently being addressed by all tasks.

BRIDGE is a European Commission initiative which unites Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe Smart Grid, Energy Storage, Islands, and Digitalisation Projects to create a structured view of cross-cutting issues which are encountered in the demonstration projects and may constitute an obstacle to innovation. The BRIDGE process fosters continuous knowledge sharing amongst projects thus allowing them to deliver conclusions and recommendations about the future exploitation of the project results, with a single voice, through four different Working Groups representing the main areas of interest.
