UBITECH Contributes to the Launch of the DETANGLE Digital Europe Project Advancing EU Cybersecurity Compliance and Resilience

UBITECH announces its participation in the newly launched European research project DETANGLE, titled “DElivering holistic, cusTomised And easy-to implement solutioNs towards efficient implementation of EU leGislation and compLiancE”. The project officially kicked off with a two-day meeting hosted by ITML on 14–15 January 2026 in Athens, Greece, marking the beginning of a 36-month collaboration running until December 2028 under Grant Agreement No. 101249446. DETANGLE aims to address critical challenges related to the implementation, supervision, and enforcement of EU cybersecurity legislation by delivering a set of highly innovative, integrated, and cost-effective services tailored to the needs of a wide range of stakeholders. By building upon existing mature technologies, the project will deploy easy-to-use solutions supported by targeted training activities, comprehensive documentation, and awareness-raising events, ultimately strengthening cybersecurity resilience across the European Union.

Within this framework, UBITECH plays a key role in the project’s technical execution. The company is responsible for overseeing the overall technical coordination of the DETANGLE platforms and unified dashboarding, including the monitoring of technical progress in line with the contractual schedule, the supervision of technical deliverables, and the preparation of technical reviews and inputs supporting continuous reporting activities. A core contribution of UBITECH is the design and deployment of the DETANGLE NIS2 Compliance Tracker, which will incorporate: (i) Automated Gap Analysis: Build on compliance frameworks like OneTrust or MetricStream and build-in mappings for ISO 27001, GDPR, and NIS2 directives to facilitate the comparison of existing security policies against NIS2 requirements and recommend fixes, taking into consideration existing enterprise tools (e.g., SIEM, SOAR) aiming to optimise the compliance process; (ii) A Compliance Dashboard: An intuitive tool that will visualize compliance progress, critical risks, and deadlines for action in a comprehensive, explainable manner; (iii) Incident Reporting Module: Delivering streamlined reporting templates for mandatory notifications to CSIRTs and authorities, exploiting secure API connections to national CSIRT platforms (e.g., via TLP standards).

In parallel, UBITECH will design and deploy the DETANGLE Knowledge Base, a WordPress-enabled solution enhanced with Elasticsearch capabilities, providing structured and accessible information on EU cybersecurity certification schemes. The company will also deliver best practices tailored to different stakeholder profiles to facilitate cross-border collaboration and enhance trustworthiness across the European cybersecurity ecosystem. These efforts will be supported by a shared, federated platform enabling secure information exchange among EU countries, leveraging REST APIs for interoperability, secure communication technologies such as Matrix or Threema, and EU-based cloud infrastructures.

UBITECH’s technical contributions to DETANGLE are led by the company’s Data & AI Systems (DAI) Research Group (https://ubitech.eu/dai/), which brings extensive expertise in large-scale platforms, compliance automation, secure data sharing, and advanced analytics. Commenting on the project launch, Dr Sophia Karagiorgou, Head of the Data & AI Systems Research Group at UBITECH, stated: “DETANGLE represents an important step towards simplifying and operationalising EU cybersecurity compliance in a way that is both technically robust and accessible to organisations of different sizes and sectors. At UBITECH, we are proud to contribute our expertise in data-driven platforms, compliance automation, and secure collaboration to help translate complex regulatory requirements into practical, trustworthy, and easy-to-adopt solutions that will support a more resilient digital Europe.”
