UBITECH participates at the final live demo of the SnR Use Case 7 on chemical substances spill

The final use-case of the Search and Rescue project, namely Use Case 7: Chemical substances spill, took place on the 14th and 15th of December in Madrid, closing a circle of successful field exercises designed to test innovative solutions across various lifelike scenarios using real-like conditions with outstanding results. In the frame of this use case, a strong earthquake hits Madrid, leaving the city with damages to several buildings and a chemical hazard incident,  in a residential building area, near a hospital.

The exercise was organized at the local level by both the Escuela Española de Salvamento y Deteccion con Perros (Spanish School of Rescue & Detection with Dogs) & the Servicio de Urgencia Médica de la Comunidad de Madrid – SUMMA 112 (Emergency Medical Service of the Community of Madrid – SUMMA 112), & mobilized more professionals from GIRECAN firefighters, Protección Civil & Municipal Police of Villaviciosa de Odón & VIGILES Institute of formation for firefighters, for a total of around 100 persons involved in total.

UBITECH’s Situation Awareness (SA) model was successfully implemented in the pilot exercise supporting the decision management of first responders during their operations. In particular, the SA model represented critical environmental hazards of chemical substances and proper information flows among communicating actors, while it forwarded relevant information with the proper actions to first responders.
