UBITECH participates at the kick-off meeting of the AI4Gov Innovation Action on trusted AI for transparent public governance

UBITECH participates at the kick-off meeting hosted by Maggioli SpA in Athens, Greece (February 20-21, 2023) of the AI4Gov Innovation Action, officially started on January 1st, 2023. The project is funded by European Commission under Horizon Europe Programme (Grant Agreement No. 101094905) and spans on the period January 2023 – December 2025. AI4Gov is a joint effort of policy makers, public institutions / organizations, legal, Social Science and Humanities and Big Data/AI experts to unveil the potentials of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data technologies for developing evidence-based innovations, policies, and policy recommendations to harness the public sphere, political power, and economic power for democratic purposes.

AI4Gov will introduce solutions and frameworks towards a two-fold sense, to facilitate policymakers on the development of automated, educated and evidence-based decisions and to increase the trust of citizens in the democratic processes and institutions. Moreover, the project will leverage the capabilities of state-of-the-art tools for providing un-bias, discrimination-free, fair, and trusted AI. These tools will be validated in terms of their ability to provide technical and/or organisational measures, causal models for bias and discrimination, and standardized methodologies for achieving fairness in AI.

Within AI4Gov, UBITECH drives the implementation of the core decentralized blockchain-based infrastructure for AI4Gov to support decentralized trust functionalities (e.g., data security, data ownership and inalienability, data provenance and reliability). To this end, existing permissioned blockchain infrastructures will be customized to the needs of the project with the goal to enable contribution and use of data from the blockchain through the implementation of the ledger peer nodes and clients. Moreover, UBITECH develops the AI4Gov Policy Recommendation Toolkit that enables public authorities and other policy makers to reuse policy models and datasets in their policy development tasks.
